An intimate Wedding in Southwest Virginia

October 22nd, what a day to behold. The sun was beautiful and warm, the fall leaves in display. The white stable of Oakley Farm shinning. A wonderful day to have a Wedding! The best you could hope for in the Virginia Mountains during late October.

Taylor Webb and Jacob Lightner, married on this glorious day, following an eight month courtship that started soon after Taylor arrived in Virginia from Alabama. When I first met the lovely couple, I assumed they had known each other for a long time. Perhaps even have grown up nearby one another in the same small county. When I learned Taylor had actually moved to the area less than a year prior and they were six months into their relationship! I was taken at the way these two appeared to have spent a lifetime together already. Their laughter, joy, love and fun spirits was so aspiring.

My husband James and I had a blast working together during their Wedding. Even attributing our break as a rare dinner date without the kids haha. T & J chose to have a small Wedding with just 63 guests, and no bridal party. Something they had expressed early on in our talks was how much they simply wanted the focus to be on love, and having their dearest friends and family, to share in the joy of joining their lives.

Henceforth in the loft of The North Stable at Oakley Farm, while violinist played a beautiful melody, Taylor, a vision in her white lace dress and floral detailed veil, gleefully joined Jake at the alter. There stood his hand built arch backlit by a small window, and decorated with a bouquet of orange, green, light pinks and whites. With family and friends looking on, T & J took communion on their knees, a beautiful tribute to the faith and love of Jesus that they share. Followed by Taylor’s sister Liz singing a song for them, during which T&J snuck an accidental kiss. Then without further ado, repeated simple vows, exchanged rings, and embraced in a first kiss as husband and wife.

After portraits were taken in the fall sunset light, T & J enjoyed a light snack and Chardonnay provided by Oakley’s staff and the rest of the evening with their loved ones. Each time I saw Taylor throughout the evening, she was laughing with her radiant smile, hugged countless family and friends, and shared many kisses with her new and happy husband Jake.

Ending the night with cake cutting, dancing, and a sparkler exit, the two could hardly wait to go begin their honeymoon in Hawaii and the rest of their lives together.

It was such a pleasure to work with Taylor and Jake, in the planning stages, engagement session, and Wedding day. The vendors, were all superb, from beautiful floral arrangements by Gloria Lindsay at Mountain Laurel Creations. Amanda Ferguson at Oakley Farm who oversaw the day and the coordinating. Troddenvale who supplied their locally made ciders, Claire’s Cakes for the breathtaking white mountain decorated cake, and The Inn at Warm Springs for the exquisite, tasteful Wedding Dinner. I would gladly work with each of them again!
