One of the things people sometimes overlook on a wedding day is that it's also the Grooms day. Over the years I've spent a lot of time with the Grooms. They get the nerves, the excitement, the 'I can't wait to say I DO' just as much as the bride does. When you take a minute with the Groom, while you're doing his portraits, or waiting for the bride to come out for a first look, when his buddies aren't around, just listen to what he has to say. It may surprise you in a good way.

At the end of the call I will send you the package we decided on together. Whether that's something we custom built during the call or one of my pre-built packages. Each couple is unique in whats important to them. But the most common I see are: traditional getting ready, first look/touch, ceremony, family photos, and lots of family and friend connection during the reception. Ending with the epic dance party and maybe a fun photo op exit.

Not your everyday family photographer.

I believe that HOME is sometimes the best place to do your families photos. Sometimes these take on a very nostalgic filmy feel, as with my friends the Gilmers. Sometimes they are classic and true toned as with the Hodges pictured here. Both of these sessions took place at or around their homes, with their unique personalities taken into consideration.

Some of the most common things I hear is:

"But Mel, i don't have a Pinterest picture home."

To which I will ALWAYS say, "THATS OKAY!! You have the home you're living in now. The one your kids will remember or be curious about. You're in the place where they feel safe and loved. That is what makes it a home. And that love, connection and going about your regular routine, is also what makes for some fu, sweet and always good photos that you will WANT to print and hang on the walls.

*Yes I will do sessions on your farm with your animals as long as they will be okay with a stranger.

Yes I am a Mom with LOTS of experience in how babies, toddlers and older kids behave and like to keep them moving to keep them engaged. But really the BEST TIP for happy kids is calm and collected parents! No bribing, no disciplining in the moment. That leads to unhappy faces and bodies in your photos.
